Cartes Turques Patience
Derived from “Cartes Turques” first made by Glanz, then later by van Genechten, Brepols & Piatnik. 3 double-ended dragon Aces and one Adam/Eve Ace with a coiled serpent.
Karl Gerich No.18: Cartes Turques Patience
Karl Gerich's hand-made deck no.18 features 3 double-ended dragon Aces and one Adam/Eve Ace with a coiled serpent. The Courts & Joker are in oriental costume. The title card shows Karl's phoenix motif, a banner with the legend: “Resurgam” (Latin for “I shall rise again”) and the artist's address at the time. “Whist pour la Turquie” was first made by the Austrian maker Glanz (Vienna) with named court cards. It was then copied by van Genechten, Brepols & Piatnik during the period c.1860-1890 and then finally it was discontinued. It is here resurrected as the inspiration for Karl's new version.
