The World of Playing Cards Logo

Playing cards have been with us since the 14th century, when they first entered popular culture. Over the centuries packs of cards, in all shapes and sizes, have been used for games, gambling, education, conjuring, advertising, fortune telling, political messages or the portrayal of national or ethnic identity. All over the world, whatever language is spoken, their significance is universal. Their popularity is also due to the imaginative artwork and graphic design which is sometimes overlooked, and the “then & now” of how things have changed.

Breaking Bad Playing Cards by Jeff Nichol

A set of cards inspired by the hit TV show Breaking Bad, created by Jeff Nichol.

Jeff Nichol has created an impressive set of cards inspired by the TV show Breaking Bad. The project started as a school assignment for his advanced graphic design course with a focus on systems. His task was to create only 16 out of the 52 cards for the assignment, but like many students, he plans to complete the deck and attempt to have them printed. You can view more cards from this project and more of Jeff's work on his Behance portfolio.
