Five playing cards found in an old book

While sorting through our backlog, we have come across these five playing cards.  The tradesman's ledger they were in dates from the 1920s.

The cards are sturdy, and have a rather glossy finish.  The backs of the cards are plain, though rather dirty.

I'd appreciate expert input!

Am I right in thinking these were made by James Hardy of London in the mid nineteenth century. Hardy & Sons continued in business until 1853. A double-ended version of Type IIIa?
