Antonio López y Compañía was established in Barcelona in 1855. Its factory was built in 1856 at 104 Conde del Asalto (now Carrer Nou de la Rambla) but card production probably did not begin until 1857–58. Around 1863 Antonio López withdrew from the business, leaving Francisco Fulladosa y Vieta, Antonio Morera y Buxó and possibly other partners who continued trading as Fulladosa y Cía.
