Sawantwadi Lacquerwares was established in 1971 by Rajesaheb Lt. Col. Shivram Sawant Bhonsle and Rajmata Satvashiladevi Bhonsle to revive Ganjifa and lacquerware in Sawantwadi, Maharashtra. The workshop operates from Sawantwadi Palace and produces hand-painted Ganjifa cards and other lacquerware products under the continuing patronage of the Sawant Bhonsle family.
