Indo-French Ganjifa Pattern

This hybrid deck pattern melds the art of Indian ganjifa with the familiar 52+J composition of French suits. Deck motifs typically fall under three categories: religious/mythological, erotic, and folk art. The first features Hindu deities, erotic variants display Kama Sutra positions, and the folk art category has courts drawn in regional art styles, some of which resemble Indian miniatures. The pip cards have either regular French markings or augmented symbols like moons. Often, Indo-French decks come with jokers and in brightly painted boxes. Most cards are handmade, although some attempts at print versions exist, for example one by Asha Industries.
