Oracle de la Triade

French divinatory oracle by Dominike Duplaa combining mythological, religious and esoteric symbols.

Running from Alpha (card 1) to Omega (card 57), this set created by Dominike Duplaa borrows elements from Greco-Roman mythology, Christianity, Judaism, the Kabbala, Freemasonry, Alchemy, Astrology and Numerology, in effect combining different philosophies and religions which developed over many centuries in the Mediterranean basin (Greece, Egypt, Middle East, etc.). The strong but diverse graphics are contained within black borders, with numbers and titles in French at the foot. There is an explanatory booklet in French and English.

In 1998, Editions du Gange took over the publication rights, making some minor changes to the designs and the booklet. In the bottom panel, the font and the background colour have been changed. On the title card , the first ‘A’ is now less fancy and the symbols before the first ‘D’ in the bottom line’ have been removed. The back design remains the same, but the blue and gold colours are duller. The booklet has been redesigned but retains the same information. See the boxes

Oracle de la Triade created by Dominike Duplaa, 1998 edition. Other, more recent editions of these cards seem to exist, sometimes with an accompanying book.

While in Turkey in 2001, I purchased a set called “Tarot – Lara” which I only later realised was a (pirate?) edition of these very same cards but extended to 78 cards with the addition of 22 major arcana and the removal of card 57, Omega, even though it still appears in the leaflet! These extra cards have completely original designs, (mostly) traditional titles but no numbers. Cards 12 and 15 from the original Oracle de la Triade have been replaced by new designs, presumably considered more acceptable to a Turkish audience. The titles are now in Turkish, the cards are smaller (68 x 114 mm), there is a new brown and yellow pattern on the reverse but no title card. A very large fold-out explanatory leaflet in Turkish is included. The original French edition is not acknowledged anywhere.
