Russell’s Recruits playing cards with red plaid backs. The ace of spades has the phrase, ( BETTER THAN STEAMBOATS). The spades/hearts are shaded. The clubs/diamonds are solid. The #2 of Spades and Ace of hearts have the phrase copyright 1906 by Willis W Russell. Under that it says in parentheses (patent applied for). The Ace of spades says, COPYRIGHT 1906 BY 74E. I cannot find a copyright number of 74E anywhere? The deck DOES NOT have the R Joker with Uncle Sam on it. First I cannot find that copyright of 74E and second, I cannot find these cards with a red plaid back anywhere. I have seen other copyrights but never 74E? Or anny other cards with red plaid backs?
