Facsimile reproduction of early 18th century French educational deck. Printed in 1982 by Edizioni del Solleone. Black and white cards on slightly yellowed stock.

Interesting historical deck intended for learning heraldry.

Dashavatara means the ten incarnations of the God – Vishnu So here we have 120 cards being 12 cards for each of the ten suits. These are large cards 88mm in diameter. They are hand painted and lacquered: these are different to the regular decks in that the quality is much higher. Complete with highly decorated box. Dated c 1950

Often referred to another Metastasis these cards were, in part, designed and etched by I L S Cowell, you can see the ‘Signature’ on some of the cards on these sheets. 32 cards are depicted – the twelve court cards and 20 transformed cards. These sheets are fragile and flaky due to the thinness of the paper and age.
