Can anyone tell me anything about these (parlour game?) cards please?

I've just bought a deck of cards at auction which I was hoping the internet would help me find out more about - but so far, I've had little success! They seem to be a parlour game, with each card showing either the top or the bottom half of a character. The cards with the top halves pose questions such as, "Are you fond of strong liquors?" and "Do you relish scraps of Latin?" - printed in German, with the French and English translations beneath. The cards with the bottom halves gives replies such as "In former times I tried, but relinquished it entirely" and "This question I answer with pleasure in the affirmative".

I'm guessing one player put down one card with a "top" and the next had to choose a "bottom" to go with it. Can anyone give any more information on when the deck is likely to date from? I'm guessing the 19th century because of the clothing and language, but it would be great to have that confirmed, and any more specific ideas as to date. Also, is there a name for this kind of game? (Google has given me multiple options, and confused me utterly!) And any suggestions as to who might have made them?

Any ideas would be very gratefully received! Thank you in advance.
