Jean-Marie Simon founded the La Ducale playing card brand in Nancy in 1946, establishing a modern French card-making business in the immediate post-war years. The company traded as Établissements Jean-Marie Simon, with La Ducale as its principal consumer brand. After 1962 La Ducale brand was absorbed into France Cartes.
