Steinberger

Steinberger

Johann Anton Steinberger (17??-1860) was one of several Frankfurt makers who specialised in topical packs that appealed to a growing bourgeois market. Apprenticed to Wüst, he established himself as a card merchant in Frankfurt, Germany. He was active from 1817 to 1860 and produced a variety of standard and non-standard designs, children's cards, souvenir packs and tarock decks. His widow succeeded him from 1860 to 1872. In 1872, Johann Müller took over the business.
