I didn't really know deck collecting was a thing until late in life. I had bought a couple of marked decks in 2018 for their ingenuity and then a gaff deck in 2022 caught my eye and buying the accompanying deck took me down the rabbit hole. It is wonderful to find the hobby that was meant for you all along. I had collected single cards in elementary school ('Swap cards' were a thing in Australia in the 60's) and then what you would call trading cards (bubblegum and cereal) in high school. I was a card player all my life but collected other things. My collector urges are now exclusively cards. I have always appreciated art and good design and to me custom playing cards are little works of art
