Algarve playing cards
Kings and Queens of Portugal between 1185 - 1279. by V. de J.J. Nunes , Lisbon, Portugal, 1977.
King Afonso III called himself King of Portugal and the Algarve. He achieved the definitive conquest of the Algarve and is depicted on the King of Diamonds. On the other Kings are the three kings who preceded him. Their respective queens are shown on the Queens while the Jacks are two further historical figures and two knights. Each character is named in a central band. The Aces have coloured vignettes of castles. Additional black-and-white photos on the 2s and 4s. Indices: R, D, V, A. Note: "V. de J.J. Nunes" appears on the top flap of the box. Additionally, in the Fournier catalogue, the printer is given as "Vda. de J.J. Nunes", so presumably a widow of the original proprietor.

He lives near Toulouse in France.
