Emoji Playing Card

Emoji Playing Cards is a Bicycle-branded 2017 pack designed by Randy Butterfield in collaboration with CollectiblePlayingCards.com and printed by USPCC. Its pips become emoji, while the courts retain their standard double-ended figures. Yellow faces appear on hearts and diamonds; brown poop emojis appear on spades and clubs, with sunglasses on the Ace of Spades.

The card back is a densely packed grid of emoji faces. Its upper and lower panels repeat expressions with sunglasses, tears, hearts, halos, sleeping symbols and other familiar marks used across the pack.
Emoji are small pictures used in digital messages. First used on Japanese mobile phones in the late 1990s, they became familiar through the iPhone and other smartphones. Oxford Dictionaries chose the emoji Face with Tears of Joy 😂 as its 2015 Word of the Year.
Initially sold exclusively at Walgreens, it was presented for children and parents playing together: "tasteful enough for their parents to play card games with their kids".
The tuck box and card back use EmojiOne images in a dense grid, while the card faces use redrawn suit signs. The white tuck box places the grid beneath the Bicycle logo (see the box ).
The two Jokers retain the usual Bicycle rider, with yellow added to the figure. The remaining black CollectiblePlayingCards.com insert is an advertising card, completing the 56-card pack.
For another approach, see Emoticon, a 2016 pack in which each card carries a different emoticon.
