MISSCŒUR
Elongated cards from France with a fourth court card, a Miss.
Alongside the three regular court cards, a ‘Miss’ has been added to each suit in this pack of elongated cards – a ‘first’ according to the publishers. The four court cards in each suit are all non-standard, fully filling the available space. They have something of a photofit feel to them, with different outfits and a slightly different set of colours for each suit. The Jacks are butlers or footmen. “MISSCŒUR / FRANCE” appears on each of the Kings. The pips on the Clubs suit have been given a new look. In 1977 he joined the newly formed playing-card department at Stanley Gibbons in London before setting up his own business in Edinburgh four years later. His collecting interests include playing cards, postcards, stamps (especially playing cards on stamps) and sugar wrappers. He is a Past President of the Scottish Philatelic Society, a former Chairman of the IPCS, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards and Curator of the WCMPC’s collection of playing cards. He lives near Toulouse in France.
