Scheffmacher AG is a well-known company of master painters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. They also supply paints, varnishes and painting tools as well as articles for artists and picture frames. In this advertising pack with comic designs by Fritz Bünzli, the figures on the court cards are shown painting and papering. A different, strong background colour has been used in each suit. Paint pots, brushes and mice adorn the Aces. The court cards are marked in German in two corners, while on all the other cards there are four indices. The name of the artist and the date appear on the King of Clubs, with the name of the manufacturer on the Queen of Clubs.
