Rosina Wachtmeister playing cards
Cats, cats and more cats in Wachtmeister’s inimitable style.
Rosina Wachtmeister was born in Vienna in 1939. In her teens she moved to Brazil with her parents, before finally settling in Italy in 1974. She is particularly well known for her paintings of cats with crescent moon-shaped heads, as in this pack. The cats generally have two faces, somewhat in the style of Picasso. Metallic gold ink has been used on the court cards, Jokers and box, giving the cards a luxury feel. (Unfortunately, the gold shows up more as black on the scans). The indices are in German.
