Jeu de la Révolution

Artist Silvia Maddonni’s take on various characters from the French Revolution, in honour of the bicentenary in 1989.

1989 France France Cartes Silvia Maddonni Commemorative Revolution Add to Collection

Colour, movement and a sense of fun are hallmarks of Silvia Maddonni’s designs. In this pack she has managed to capture the essence of various characters associated with the French Revolution in a modern style which is at once pleasing. The characters include Louis XVI, Danton, Robespierre and Charlotte Corday. At the foot of each court card is a famous quotation linked to the character depicted. Their names and further information are contained in the bilingual leaflet. Typical revolutionary types (tricoteuse, sans-culotte, etc.) are shown on the Aces and Jokers. The indices and pips on the black suits are printed in dark blue. See the box
