Łódź souvenir playing cards
Light and atmospheric watercolour illustrations of city views by Polish artist Katarzyna Tomala.
The Łódź Playing Cards, illustrated by artist Katarzyna Tomala and published by the Kraków-based souvenir house Czwórka, offer a vibrant tribute to the Polish city of Łódź. The deck consists of 55 cards, including three Jokers, and features original gouache watercolour paintings depicting the city's most famous sights. The court cards depict architectural landmarks and a bottom part with a small coat of arms from the city and the landmark's name in Polish, with a smaller English translation underneath. The Jokers, as well as the pip cards, which exhibit one uniform drawing, feature statues from the famous "Fairy Tale Trail," showcasing beloved characters from Polish animation history.
Interestingly, one of the three Jokers is distinguished by having its lettering rendered in light-blue colour. The packaging displays the drawing of Teddy Drop-Ear (Miś Uszatek), while the back shows the same bear figure set against a steel pattern with the Łódź coat of arms. See the box
