Wicküler Skat
Publicity pack for the German brewery Wicküler with courts merrily drinking beer.
The Wicküler beer brand dates back to 1845. However, Wicküler ceased to be an independent brewery in the 1990s. The Kings are based on historical figures (e.g., Gustav II Adolf of Sweden on the King of Diamonds). Each is depicted with a stein. The Queens are jolly serving wenches, while the Jacks are merry musketeers, each with a beer mug or two. The name of the brewery together with their logo (three musketeers) appears twice on the reverse against a green background.
Above: Wicküler Skat made by A.S.S., Leinfelden, Germany, 1969. 32 cards in clear plastic box. Size: 59 x 91 mm.
