Papst Quartett
A quartet game featuring a selection of popes up to Benedict XVI.
One can only speculate about the reaction of the Catholic Church in relation to a card game featuring a selection of popes! As this pack was issued in Germany just one year after Benedict XVI took office, it was presumably intended to be a celebration of the fact that a German-speaking pope had been elected. A scattering of popes are featured from before 1846; thereafter, they run in order up to Benedict XVI. The images comprise photographs, paintings, sculptures, etc. All the text is in German. Traditional quartet game rules apply. The set was issued in a blister pack complete with four small candles! See the box►
Above: Papst Quartett published and distributed by Kultquartett GmbH & Co. KG, Hamburg, Germany, 2006. Maker unknown. 32 cards + 1 title/rule card in German in a clear plastic box, in an outer pack with 4 candles. Size: 59 x 91 mm.
