Modet Sardegna
Costumes, masks and symbols from the island of Sardinia, with designs by Luciano Dettori and Tonino Caputo.
The island of Sardinia is rich in history and folklore. It has four provinces – Cagliari, Oristano, Nuoro, and Sassari – each with its own traditions. Costumes connected with each of these provinces are depicted on the court cards. The non-standard suit-signs also represent the four provinces. The maker’s name appears on all the 4s. Featured on the Jokers is Boes (from Ottana), a masked carnival figure. The backs show an attractive old map of Sardinia. The pack was conceived by Luciano Dettori, a pianist and musician from Sassari, with the designs being executed by Maestro Tonino Caputo, a graphic artist from Puglia. Further details about the designs are given on the double-sided extra card, with text in Italian. See the box►
