Goodall’s modernised Wüst House pattern playing cards
A remodelled version of the first Wüst house pattern.
Following the publication of a Wüst house pattern pack with Brazilian scenic aces in about 1890, Goodall produced another modernised version of the same type in about 1910. The court cards look much brighter and modern but are basically the same as the first Wüst House pattern with just a few minor alterations. The aces are plain except for the Goodall ace of spades. The pack has 52 cards and had a standard Goodall joker.
This pack, as far as I know, always had advertising for several companies situated in Belgium and The Netherlands. The fact that Goodall once again used Wüst designs only strengthens the theory that there may have been a cooperation between the two factories. You can see the other pack here.

I'm British but I have now lived in the Netherlands for more than 50 years and am still enjoying every minute of it. I started collecting playing cards in the early 1980’s after speaking with my neighbour who was at that time a croupier in a casino. I started with just collecting jokers, but that soon led me to complete packs of cards and eventually to specialising in old and antique playing cards, particularly those of C.L. Wüst of Frankfurt, Germany. I am presently the Dutch representative of the I.P.C.S. and the auctioneer at the IPCS conventions.
