Arik Brauer
An artist-led pack from Vienna’s Hilger Edition, with Arik Brauer’s fantasy imagery turned into cards.
Arik Brauer's 1991 Hilger Edition pack was printed by Piatnik and belongs to the group of artist-led packs promoted through the Ernst Hilger Gallery in Vienna.
It comes in a standard double cardboard box , and the pip cards have been slightly redesigned.
Hilger Edition promoted the work of artists associated with the Ernst Hilger Gallery in Vienna.
Arik Brauer (1929-2021) was a co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, along with Anton Lehmden, who also created a pack for Hilger Edition.
He used the meticulous painting techniques of the Old Masters and medieval illumination. His figurative compositions combine Jewish biblical iconography, mythological narratives, and environmental allegories through detailed forms, reverse perspective, and strong colour. It is a 52-card pack plus 3 jokers, card size: 91 x 59 mm.
