Baraja Historica de Madrid
“Baraja Historica de Madrid 1992” playing cards designed by Alberto Pérez and published by Asescoin for 1994 Convention.
There were three reasons for publishing this pack – to fill a gap in terms of packs to do with the history of Spain’s capital, Madrid, to mark the move of the Museo Fournier to new premises (the Palacio de Bendaña in Vitoria), and to celebrate the first joint convention of ASESCOIN (the Spanish playing-card collectors’ association) and the I.P.C.S., held in Vitoria, 1994. Two of the suit-signs require some explanation: the swords have been replaced by pocket/flick knives, and the batons by branches (with fruit) of the strawberry tree (madroño). The booklet has more information about the characters depicted. This first printing was published in a numbered edition of 1,000 packs more►
