Patience by Joseph Glanz
A refined and distinctly European Patience pack by Joseph Glanz from Austria.
A double deck of 52 cards measuring 72x43, distinguished by the reverse side in red and blue. The delicate graphic design of the court cards is colored with stencils. The work with the pink detail is especially worth highlighting. The pip cards are entirely made with stencil printing only. The preserved original packaging proves that the product was intended for a wealthier clientele • See the box
The tax stamp on the aces of hearts with a female portrait was used in Austria-Hungary in the years 1857-1859. In this case, the year of production is also documented by the manufacturer's own stamp, which states the year 1859.
Above: Patience by Joseph Glanz, 1859. 52 cards, 72x43 mm.
Another edition of these cards from the years 1880-1885 is also known, which can be seen on the World Web Playing Card Museum website.

My relationship with cards grew from playing to collecting and transformed into publishing as well. I am part of the team at Counter Clockwise, a small company that publishes traditional card games.
